Riordan keen on Burnley
Story by Tony Scholes
2008-01-24

There are still no signings at Turf Moor this January as of yet although manager Owen Coyle has hinted that the first one could be with us very soon. Could it be one of those four or someone not previously linked with us? If Riordan has his way it could be him walking through the doors at Turf Moor.

I think we are all aware now that Riordan is one of the players we've made an offer for, but the last news was that it hadn't been accepted by Celtic and he was about to sign for Championship rivals Bristol City.

However, news today suggests that is not quite the case. His agent Jim McArthur has admitted that his client would be keen on a move to the Clarets and claimed that we are the only club to have made an offer, other than requests to take him on loan.

McArthur said: "Five clubs want Derek on loan, but if he's to go it must be on a permanent basis. The only club to have made an official offer is Burnley for £400,000 plus add-ons. Derek would be very keen to speak with them if an agreement was reached."

Meanwhile, there's still no news from the Turf following Coyle's comments this morning.
