PORTSMOUTH manager Tony Adams is expecting a 'cracking game' when his side take on Bristol City on the first weekend of January.

The Premiership club were drawn out of the hat first and paired with Championship side Bristol City, who for the third season in succession drew a team from England's top tier.

On the previous two occasions City have been ousted by Middlesbrough, and this time around Johnson's men face a tough task taking on a side who drew 2-2 with AC Milan in the UEFA Cup last week.

The City side will travel to the south coast in the first weekend of January for what Pompey manager Tony Adams described as a 'cracking game', he told the club's official website,

"It's great to have a home tie.

"Bristol City are a good footballing side and Gary Johnson has got a good outfit down there.

"It should be a cracking game of football."
