"He came here on a free transfer and has been absolutely fantastic for us," Johnson told the Bristol Evening Post.
"We would like to keep him around for as long as we possibly can.
"He has been a major part of the success we have enjoyed over the last few years.
"He has had a wonderful Bristol City career and I will be doing everything I can to keep him here."
