Brooker hailed after opening day impact

GARY Johnson this morning hailed Steve Brooker after the striker came off the bench to assure City got off to the perfect start in their quest for the Premiership.


The striker, who spent much of the last campaign injured, came off the bench to ensure the Robins started with a win in the Championship 2008/09. The Bristol City boss reveled in his sides win,

"I was delighted with the performance," he told Teamtalk.com. "Three points on the first day of the season away from home is a great start."

He praised the goalscoring hero saying: "I was pleased with the way Steve Brooker took his goal. I told him to get on the field and make his mark. He couldn't have picked a better way of doing it."

"Steve has dpme a lot of hard work after a series of injuries. His goal was a great finish, not just for the team but for the travelling fans."
