Damion Stewart and Sam Vokes are out of Bristol City`s Carling Cup first-round trip to Southend. Stewart will serve a one-match suspension after the defender was sent off in the opening-day defeat to Millwall while on-loan striker Vokes suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions just 13 minutes after coming off the bench to make his City debut. Louis Carey (heel) and Christian Ribeiro (back) could ease the Robins` injury woes as they have resumed training. However, fellow defenders Lewin Nyatanga and James Wilson, midfielder Kalifa Cisse (thigh) and strikers Danny Haynes (groin and thigh) and Nicky Maynard (knee) remain out. David James` understudy Dean Gerken could be handed a run-out against the League Two club. "I am still undecided but it might be a chance to give him a game," said manager Steve Coppell. "I can`t chop and change much because of the circumstances as it is a case of having 17 or 18 fit players at the moment."
