GARY Johnson says his side have been given a New Year 'treat' by being drawn against FA Cup holders Portsmouth in the third round of the competition.

City were drawn out of the hat second yesterday, and will now face an away tie against Tony Adams Premiership side as they look to defend the world's oldest cup competition.

Pompey won the trophy last May beating Cardiff City 1-0 and beat Blackburn 3-2 yesterday to give the Harry Redknapp's replacement his first home victory as a manager.

Johnson told the official website,

"It's the biggest test really because it's the number one seeds - the holders on their own patch.

"It's match everyone at the club can look forward to in the New Year. There's always a great atmosphere at Fratton Park.

"It's quite a local game too, which should ensure we get a good backing down on the South Coast."

Johnson also said he is pleased to be able to test himself against a legendary player and rookie manager, Tony Adams,

"I met Tony during my Pro Licence and spent plenty of time with him over the course of the year," he revealed.

"He was a great player, very committed, and that's exactly how Portsmouth will play under his leadership," he continued.
