BRISTOL City manager Jamie McAllister has been congratulated by his club manager Gary Johnson after being called into Scotland's World Cup qualifying squad.

McAllister who will most likely make his first appearance since selection on Saturday against Sheffield United was this morning selected in Scotland's latest World Cup qualifying campaign as the Tartan army try to reach the 2010 competition in South Africa.

The defender described himself as delighted and after his call up his manager Gary Johnson heaped praise on him for never giving up and earning his selection. He told the official website: "Everyone's absolutely delighted for Jamie.

"George Burley called me yesterday to let me know, and asked me to call Jamie to inform him. Jamie was over the moon - he's very proud to be representing his country again.

Gary's son, Lee, came out last week and said that he hoped to be called up to the squad and although he narrowly missed out on selection, Johnson was happy that his players were achieving such recognition for their good form. He continued: "He (Burley) also said that he's keeping tabs on Michael and Lee and they were very close for this squad. However, at present, he has an abundance of riches in midfield.
