Heed off the mark with point

Gateshead got off the mark in the Skrill Premier with a 2-2 home draw against Macclesfield.

After losing their first four league matches, the Tynesiders looked like suffering defeat for a fifth game on the spin when a Scott Boden double sent Macclesfield into half-time firmly in control.

Summer signing Boden, who scored his first goal for the Silkmen in Saturday's 2-2 home draw with FC Halifax, tucked away Danny Andrew's cross from close range after 19 minutes before finishing from 12 yards with four minutes remaining in the first half.

But after Rhys Taylor tipped wide a Richard Brodie effort, Carl Magnay headed in from the resulting corner in the 51st minute.

Liam Hatch nodded home from another corner after 70 minutes to ensure the points were shared.
