Editorial Inquisition: Peterborough United - 12th August

Last updated : 12 August 2008 By Smallsy
TO get a better idea about the club Bristol City will be facing in tonight's League Cup match, website editor Ben Small saught some more perspective on the game in the second of two editorial inquisition features...

Tell us a bit about yourself (Name, age, occupation)
Trev Knighton, 26, my job-title's a tad non-descript, basically i work in the Welfare office at the University of Leeds helping students with their problems.

How long have you supported Peterborough?

I think this is my 18th season.

What is your earliest memory of the club?
From my first game, we tonked Reading at home in February 92 and i was sitting with some school mates at the back of the main stand on the wooden seats.

What is the clubs proudest moment you have witnessed?

Undoubtedly winning at Wembley in 92 in the playoff final for promotion ot Division 1 for the first time in our history.

How did the club perform in 2007/08?
Very well, we played the best football I can ever remember us playing, and we got promotion. We may have finished 2nd on paper, but as the Franchise 'won' the league, we were the champions morally.

Has the club made many additions or sufferered many departures in the summer?
We've not really got rid of anyone, despite the club transfer listing 7 players who are apparently surplus to requirements, making them train with the youth team and letting Barry do his wheeler dealing. We've nicked a right back called Russell Martin and the real Torres from Wycombe, we've signed last seasons Highland League player of the year and a young winger from Fisher Athletic. I can't think of anyone else.

How have the team shaped up in pre season?

Couple of wins, defeats against West Ham and Man Utd. We haven't really set the world alight, but then we never do, so it's not particularly relevant.

Who is your best player?

I'm probably the worst person to ask as I like an underdog, and divulge cult status on no-marks as a matter of course. We're good across the park really, but I suppose the obvious answer is Aaron Maclean, he did score 30+ last year. His strike partner Mackail-Smith and the left sided forward Boyd are also pretty nifty.

Who might Bristol City be able to explose?
Depends how strong a squad we play, but if Tommy Williams plays left back, it has to be him. In my humble opinion, he's rubbish.

Which City player do you think will be the dangerman for your team?
Can't say I'm too familiar with clubs from mickey mouse leagues, but in the few games I saw you play last season I thought Marvin Elliott was excellent, he ran games and was everywhere. If he gets on top of our young midfield I think we'll really struggle to assert ourselves.

If Peterborough were a chocolate bar, what would they be?!
A boost, with added guarana. We're full of energy, the little bits of biscuit contained within are always a pleasant surprise. I think the guarana represents that certain 'unknown quality', mainly cos noone knows what the hell it is.

Sum the club up in three words...
Sublime, ridiculous, wonderful.

Give us your prediction for the game...
I think you might pip us by one, I'll say 2-1.
