What they said...? (Week 2)

The Manager
Gary Johnson was understandably unhappy after his side were pegged back from 1-0 up. He said: "We played well in the first half but we went off the boil in the second."

"We had enough chances to win two games but we just didn't take them. In the end you've got to say a point is better than nothing but the players know we should be winning those type of games."

The Opposition
Paul Jewell was pleased to get a point out of the game but felt his side could have won. He said: "We were almost there. We started awfully and the boys knew I wasn't happy with the way they were playing."

"At the end I thought we were going to nick it but City defended well and we're happy to get off the mark."

Players
Nicky Maynard spoke to Sky Sports after the game about his goal. He said: "I wouldn't say I was feeling any pressure but I'm glad I got on the scoresheet and hopefully they'll continue to come now."

On the match itself he said: "It's disappointing not to have won the game. We started so well and when we got the goal it looked like we might get more but in the end I feel that it's a game we should have won."

The Experts
Peter Beagrie spoke to Dave Jones after the game on Sky about the game and he said: "It's often in this league that games are totally different in both halves and I guess that was the case. Bristol City took the lead but I don't think Gary Johnson will be happy with the way they defended."

On the Derby goal he said: "Gary will be tearing his hair out after that. There was three seperate mistakes in there and he'll be unhappy that they weren't further ahead when that goal went in."

When asked who would finish higher in the league he joked: "They'll probably be level. City did well last season but I don't know if on this performance I saw enough to say they will be 4th again."
