Akinde pleased with reserves run-out

CITY's only deadline day signing John Akinde was pleased to be back in the action as part of a reserve team which thrashed Bourmouth 6-0 last night.

While Akinde accepts he will have to wait for his chance to make his full debut, the £140,000 signing from Ebbsfleet was pleased to put in a good performance and hopefully send a message to his manager that he is ready to make an appearance for the Robins first team.

Akinde failed to get on the scoresheet last night but made two goals in the six goal victory and with Steve Brooker limping off through injury there is an outside chance that Akinde could be named on the bench for Saturday's game against Cardiff.

The 19-year old told the Bristol Evening Post,

"I'm really pleased with the way the game went and it was good to get a full 90 minutes. I've been working hard in training and I'm over the injury that kept me out at the start of the season.

"At the moment I'm just taking ot one step at a time."
