Basso determined to be fit for Saturday

ADRIANO Basso still has a 'good chance' of playing in Saturday's game according to City boss Gary Johnson.

The stopper was withdrawn at half time from the game against Birmingham and has suffered a number of niggling injuries this season which have threatened to keep hit out of the team.

Predominantley second choice Chris Weale has made four appearances this season, twice in the league and twice in the cup and he could be on stand-by to replace Basso if he fails to prove his fitness.

Johnson told the official website: "We're not in a position where we have to rush somebody back who has a niggle, because we've got two other good goalkeepers in Chris Weale and Stephen Henderson.

"It's only Thursday now so Adriano's still got two days to recover. Chris Weale did well when he came on [versus Birmingham] and showed what a quality keeper he is.

"If we've got one keeper that's 100 per cent fit and the other's only 90 per cent then we'll go with the 100 per center."
