AHEAD of the new season, Gary Johnson has called on the younger players in the squad to make the most of any first team oppertunities they are given.

Sources suggest that the Bristol boss may be looking to you this season to provide his squad with that extra spark and the likes of Frankie Artus, Jennison Myrie-Williams, Tristan Plummer, Christian Ribeiro and James Wilson have all been mentioned as those who could make an impact this season.

The manager, speaking at a press conference, ahead of the weekend's opening fixture against Blackpool said: "We have had a number of younger lads come back having summered well. They have come back as men and now they have got to make a play for first-team places."

He also revealed that several of his younger players had been the subject of loan enquiries,

"There have been a couple of enquiries about our young lads but I just want to wait until nearer the start of the season to see who is in and around the first-team mix."

"For these players it is all about league games rather than reserve-team matches now. They need that experience and loans could be an option,"
he added.
