Bristol City V Barnsley at Ashton Gate - Match Preview

Robins three down

Bristol City will be without three first-team regulars for the vital clash with Barnsley at Ashton Gate.

Captain Cole Skuse, striker Sam Baldock and defender Louis Carey all missed the Robins' defeats to Cardiff and Crystal Palace and have lost their race to be fit in time for the visit of the Tykes.

Skuse had been making good progress as he looked to return from a knee injury sustained in the victory over Watford last month but the midfielder has suffered a setback in training.

And while Baldock (calf) and Carey (knee) will not feature, right-back Brendan Moloney (hamstring) could still play a part despite limping out of Tuesday's defeat at Selhurst Park.

City are six points adrift of safety and rock-bottom of the npower Championship but they are yet to lose a home game since head coach Sean O'Driscoll took charge.

Barnsley expect Kelvin Etuhu to be available.

The midfielder missed the midweek win over Wolves after suffering a broken nose during the FA Cup victory against MK Dons last weekend.

But the 24-year-old came through training unscathed on Thursday and is pushing to be involved against bottom-side City.

Fellow midfielder Scott Golbourne has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee problem. The Tykes expect Ryan Tunnicliffe to come into the squad to replace him once his loan move from Manchester United is confirmed.

David Flitcroft's side are unbeaten in their last six league games and have won eight of their last nine in all competitions. They currently sit two points clear of safety and six ahead of their opponents.
