Bristol City V Ipswich at Ashton Gate - Match Preview

Baldock boost for Robins

Bristol City's top scorer Sam Baldock could return to action against Ipswich having missed their last three matches.

The former MK Dons man has been sidelined through knee and calf injuries but has trained with Sean O'Driscoll's squad this week.

The Robins' medical team will asses the 23-year-old before deciding whether to involve him against the Tractor Boys at Ashton Gate but O'Driscoll is hopeful.

Albert Adomah, subject of a bid from an unnamed club on Thursday, is away on Africa Cup of Nations duty while fellow winger Paul Anderson has recovered from the dead leg injury he suffered at Leeds on Saturday.

One player who could be involved is defender Mark Wilson who will stay with the club until the end of the season after being handed an extended deal.

Bradley Orr plays the final game of his loan spell as Ipswich travel to his former employers and relegation rivals.

Right-back Orr, who spent six years at Ashton Gate before departing in 2010, has been on loan with Town since mid-November and an agreement had initially been struck with parent club Blackburn to extend his stay until the end of the season.

But the appointment of Michael Appleton as new Rovers boss changed that and Orr will now return to Ewood Park when his current loan spell ends after the weekend.

Manager Mick McCarthy is hoping to bring in a replacement for Orr, with 18-year-old Elliott Hewitt still lacking the experience needed for a relegation dogfight.

McCarthy named an unchanged XI for last weekend's 1-1 draw against Barnsley and could opt to do so again with no new injury or suspension problems expected.
