Robins boss Keith Mullen told the City website: "He's clearly got a problem and we have to be guided by our medical team and the Tottenham medical team.
"If it does flare up again then the worst case scenario is surgery and we don't want to go down that route."
Rose, who scored a memorable goal on his Spurs debut against Arsenal last season, has been receiving treatment at his parent club.
