BRISTOL City manager Gary Johnson has allowed striker Steve Brooker to join Doncaster Rovers on loan, with a view to a permanent move.

The forward has been injured since September when he suffered an achillies injury and was set to remain at Ashton Gate until the Championship club enquired about his availability.

City manager Gary Johnson was happy to allow Brooker to move to build up his fitness but admitted that the 27-year-old could be a peripheral figure thanks to the signing of John Akinde, Nicky Maynard and Stern John with the loan move with a view to a more permenant arrangement,

He told the official website,

"He needs to get fit and for that to happen he needs games. This loan is with a view to a permanent signing."

The 27-year-old remains the club's joint top scorer with three goals in six appearances.
