Brooker targets first team place

STEVE Brooker gave a determined message this morning that he is not content with sitting on the bench all season - even if that means coming on to score more winning goals.

The striker made a late appearence against Blackpool and popped up with the winner and then did the same in the final minute against Peterborough on Tuesday in the Carling Cup, but the forward has given a defiant message that he wants to break into the first team yet again.

"Last yeah was last year," he told the Bristol Evening Post, "The idea of going somewhere to get fit did come up again but I want to be playing first team football in the Championship."

Brooker,, who returned from injury towards the end of last season played second fiddle to the teams other forwards in the teams run to the playoff final, Brooker intends to use his oppertunities to convince the manager he is over his injury nightmare, "I came back to City to get my place in the team and that is what I want to do again."
