NEAR the top of Championship with five wins and a draw, Birmingham City it seems have plenty to be proud of.

Brum showed their pedegree at the weekend and also the reason why they are favourites to return to the Premiership after a 1-0 victory against Doncaster in a game when they were largely dominated, and played most of the match with ten men.

Their next opponents are Bristol City away from home, a stern challenge of both sides promotion credentials, midfielder Lee Carsley is confident it is one that his side can side to the challenge of.

"The manner of the victory (against Doncaster) shows there's a lot of character within the club, we're nowhere near our top form at the minute but you look at the league table and we're still up there, " he told teamtalk.com.

"We're not ecstatic with the win but we know there's a lot more to come," he continued.

Carsley joined from Everton in the summer and despite being part of a team which finished 5th last season he was happy to make the drop in the because of the quality the players around him and the manager posess. Ahead of Tuesday's game with City he said: "We've found that a lot of teams this season are flooding the midfield and it's been difficult to play against.

"It's fantastic. Our season is going to be based on our home form and being tight away from home as well, it's good that we've kept the run going."
