Even without a multi-billionaire owner Lansdown believes City can make the Premiership.
AHEAD of his side's clash with Crystal Palace at Ashton Gate this afternoon, Steve Landsdown the Bristol City chairman has warned the rest of the Championship that his side are not in the division to 'make up the numbers'.

City impressed many outside the division with their storming performances in reaching the playoff final and Lansdown expects his side to make the same impression on the neutral this season. He described himself as 'extremely happy' with City's 3-0 defeat at Coventry and is looking forward to the meeting with QPR.

Rangers come into this afternoon's game as slight favourites as one of the division's leading side's. Backed by Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone the West Londoners are looking to get themselves in the Premiership for the 2009/10 season but Lansdown was uncompromising about his team's own ambitions of making a first appearance in the Premiership. He told the Bristol Evening Post: "We want to play at the highest possible level with the best possible facilities and that is what I'm going to work towards, and that's what Gary is going to work towards as well.

"That's not going to change no matter what clubs around us are doing. We have our own plan of how we go about doing things which is quietly but efficiently. If you look at our record over the last however many years there has been constant investment in the club, and that's all you can ask for."

The chairman hinted at a move to a new stadium in the future and said: "We are working on the oppertunities to take tht club forward and we're there to compete with the likes of QPR."
