CITY 1 Blackpool 1

City name an unchanged team and unchanged squad which means no place for Clayton Fortune and no central defender signed in time for the game. It also means that promising youngsters Scott Brown and Dave Cotterill continue. Tommy Doherty starts a two match suspension today and Tinnion again leaves himself out of the squad. Tony Butler is in the heart of the Blackpool defence alongside much talked about Peter Clarke, a possible future target for City. Tony is given a good reception by the City faithful as his name is announced.

Blackpool kick off. Good work by Cotterill but Butler clears his cross. Another Cotterill cross is easiy claimed by Lee Jones. Leroy Lita is played in by Luke Wilkshire but the offside flag is up.

Sheffield Wednesday are a goal up at Brentford, as are Swindon at Doncaster. Oldham have conceded yet another goal away at Huddersfield. Luton lead Port Vale. Lee Peacock is Wednesday's scorer.

A well worked corner almost leads to a Blackpool goal but they settle for a free kick just outside the box. Keigan takes a good free kick that Phillips just manages to tip over for a corner that Brooker clears. Lita is fouled by Tony Butler, City have a free kick by the corner flag. Mickey Bell goes for goal and Lee Jones does well to save. Scott Brown is brought down as he surges into the area but the referee gives nothing. Luke Wilkshire turns well and shoots from 30 yards but is off target. Steve Phillips claims a third Blackpool corner well at the feet of Murphy.

Hull City lead Colchester.

City break quickly and win a corner from which Luke Wilkshires shot is on target but saved by Lee Jones. A looping cross from Cotterill threatens to go straight in but Jones tips only. Jones then flaps at the corner and Dinning fires it back in and Brooker touches the ball home inside the six yard box.

1-0 (Steve Brooker 21 mins)

Warren Feeney has put Stockport ahead of Hartlepool. Tranmere are a goal up at Bournemouth. Bradford are a goal up against Walsall.

Brooker shoots over after good work by Lita and Wilkshire. A Jamie Smith cross from a short corner loops behind for a goal kick.

Doncaster have equalised against Swindon which puts City into that 6th place if only temporarily. Oldham have conceded another (their 18th in 5 games). Hull are now 2 up against Colchester, Nicky Barmby the scorer.

A poor punch through a crowd of players by Phillips is not punished by Blackpool. A Lita cross is caught by Lee Jones. Wilkshire has another shot but it is charged down. A Luke Wilkshire free kick from the touchline bounces in the six yard area and goes just wide with the keeper nowhere near it. Wilkshire plays Lita in and his shot fools the crowd into thinking its a goal as it nestles in the side netting.

The impressive Peter Clarke tackles Leroy Lita at the expense of a corner. Dinning just fails to get on the end of Mickey Bells corner. Lita is tripped on the edge of the box by Gareth Evans who is booked. Tony Butler deflects Mickey Bells free kick for a 6th City corner. Tony Dinning heads goalwards but Lee Jones saves well.

Lee Peacock has a second for Sheffield Wednesday, but Brentford respond with a goal of their own but and are 2-1 down. Port Vale have equalised against Luton. Bournemouth have equalised against Tranmere but City are still 6th on goal difference.

One minute of injury time to be played. City have created a lot of chances but only have one goal to show for it. Lee Jones in the Blackpool goal has made some good saves but his error cost them the goal. City should be able to consolidate a win in the second half.

HT 1-0

Macclesfield have scored on the stroke of half time to lead the Gas 1-0. Yeovil are also a goal up at half time.

Sheffield Wednesday are now 3-1 up at Brentford. The Gas have equalised.

An early Mickey Bell cross is caught comfortably by Lee Jones. City are caught offside a couple of times as Blackpool martial their back line well. Another poor punch from Lee Jones to Wilkshire but he chips over. A Blackpool corner is cleared off the line by Mickey Bell the ball is back in and Steve Phillips punches poorly to Richie Wellens who scores.

1-1 (Richie Wellens 60 mins)

A good chance immediately as Brooker passes to Lita who miscontrols when well placed. Leroy Lita is replaced by Paul Heffernan.

Macclesfield are back in front against the Gas. Grimsby have equalised against Yeovil. Port Vale lead against Luton. Walsall have equalised against Bradford.

Steve Phillips saves a shot from Martin Bullock. Luke Wilkshire is denied from shooting by a good Peter Clarke challenge. Paul Heffernan almost gets to the ball ahead of the keeper. Luke Wilkshire is booked for pulling back Martin Bullock. Keigan Parker has a shot deflected for a corner.

Danny Coles heads a Mickey Bell corner wide at the far post. Luke Wilkshire is replaced by Scott Murray. A Danny Coid cross is almost turned into his own net by Jamie Smith but he recovers to clear. Crosses pinging in from Blackpool and City are hanging on a bit.

Joe Anyinsah comes on for Dave Cotterill. A Keith Southern shot is saved by Steve Phillips and he releases quickly but Anyinsah is flagged offside. Murray twice has the ball but can't quite make the killer pass.

Port Vale are 3-1 up against Luton, Lee Matthews with the goal. Brentford have pulled one back but trail Sheff Weds 2-3.

A tussle for the ball between Scott Brown and Richie Wellens leads to both of them being booked. Bullock and Wellens are bossing the midfield in the second half and a draw is looking the fairest result although it is frustrating for City who could have been in the play off positions tonight. Three minutes of injury time have started. Keigan Parker hits the bar for a second time and City scramble the ball for a corner. The corner is headed goalwards but straight at Phillips.

Brentford get a late equaliser against Sheff Weds.

The full time whistle goes with City the more relieved team by the end. City had the better of the first half but Blackpool came back strongly in the second. A draw the fair result but City have missed the chance to enter the play off places. A win at Luton now required.
