LEE Trundle will have been pleased to get on the scoresheet last night, even if he side didn't win the game.

The former Swansea forward was linked with a return to the Swans before the transfer window closed after failing to play in any of City's first five games, but making his first appearance last night he found the target with a 45-yard striker after a bad kick from Maik Taylor.

Johnson said that Trundle was 'very much part of his plans' and is pleased that the striker has got his head down and continued to work hard to break into the team. He said: "Lee Trundle has scored an amazing goal, but you shouldn't have to net from 45 yards in a home game.

The strike was Trundle's first of the season and could help him force his way into the team against Doncaster, especially with Steve Brooker currently injured and new signing John Akinde deemed not fit enough for action.

The City boss said: "It was a good goal, although it was 40 yards or so from the area! We worked their men and made the keeper make the mistake.

"Trunds is a lively player. He has got to earn his place, but that's how people earn their place - by coming on and taking their opportunities."
