City boss still open to loans

AHEAD of his side's game with Norwich this weekend Gary Johnson insists that Bristol City have enough quality to push themselves back into the top six.

City face the 21st place side in the Championship this weekend and Gary Johnson is well aware that if his side want to emulate their position from last season, they need to start picking up points away from home.

Norwich, unlike City, are a side performing in the same manner as last campaign, although in their case that isn't what they need to be doing. Glenn Roeder's men were beaten 3-1 by Derby two weeks ago and are in danger of slipping into the relegation zone if they are defeated.

As his side builds up to what needs to be a massive performance, Gary Johnson admits he is still confident that his side are capable of 'big' things despite recent struggles. The manager refused to respond to reports he is eyeing up a move for Egypitan midfielder Hossam Ghaly, a rumour which has resurfaced this week. He said: "If I need to bring in loans then I will do at the right time, if they are the right people. The boys are giving everything and if that's the case we should get right behind them.

"We're looking at it at the moment but we're giving our lads another opportunity to show us what they can do. If the supporters get behind the lads, who have pushed us to where we are today, and give us that enthusiastic support like I'm sure they will then the lads will play better.

"One day there will be a situation where 100 per cent of the people and so far behind the lads that any mistake they make will be cheered. I'm telling you, we'll have a very strong club if that happens."
