KEEPING a clean sheet in the first game of the season was one of the positives on an excellent day for Bristol City and the manager Gary Johnson was delighted with the work of both his goalkeepers.

Adriano Basso started the game despite worries about his fitness but was replaced at half time following an injury to his thigh. Deputising for the first choice was Chris Weale who made some good saves and got praise from his manager for finishing the job Basso had started.

He told the official website: "Wealie is a quality keeper, we're lucky to have too like that."

"He did make one mistake handling outside the area but over all his decision making was good and I'm happy that he was able to keep a clean sheet."
