City lose out in FA Cup coin toss

Bristol City face having to play twice within three days after they lost a toss of a coin to decide whether they or Bristol Rovers should play their FA Cup second-round tie on Saturday, December 2.

Avon & Somerset Police refused an appeal by City for both games to be staged on the same day and the Robins were this morning still waiting to finalise the date of their clash with Gillingham.

Rovers will definitely host Bournemouth on December 2 at 3pm after the matter was decided following the toss of a coin at the FA's Soho Square headquarters yesterday. City are now considering whether to play their tie on Friday night or Sunday afternoon.

It is possible they could try to bring their Johnstone's Paint Trophy second-round tie at Nottingham Forest forward 24 hours from Wednesday, November 29 to Tuesday. But that would leave them playing two days after their League One trip to Swansea on Sunday, November 26.
