Boss Gary Johnson has confirmed the enquiry and explained why he refused it.
"There has been contact with Crewe, but I've told them I don't want anyone else going out on loan at the present time," said Johnson.
"Jevo doesn't want to leave and I don't want him going anywhere either.
"It is difficult to chop and change things when the first team has not lost yet.
"Jevo understands the situation and he is waiting in the wings patiently, cleverly and professionally, and he will take his chance when it comes."
