GARY Johnson made another swoop in the transfer market today by bringing in Andy Webster from UEFA Cup finalists Rangers.

The City manager confirmed after Bristol's game with Derby that he wanted to sign some defensive cover after Christian Ribero and Jamie McCombe suffered injuries in the last week leaving the club short of defensive options.
Johnson moved today to bolster his squad by bringing in the 26-year-old from the Scottish Premier League.

Johnson told the official website: "We needed competition at centre half. To get somebody of his experience is fantastic. He's seen our rising status and it's a move that works for both parties. He needs games and we feel he's fit enough."

The deal between the two clubs has been on an original five month basis and he has been handed the clubs number 16 shirt.

Rangers boss Walter Smith commented on the deal saying: "We feel it will be benificial for him to get regular football there and we hope he can return to the level we known he is capable of."
