City v Charlton. Team News

The Portuguese youngster, an ever-present in the league for the Addicks this term, serves a one-match ban following his sending off during Saturday's win at Southampton.

Boss Alan Pardew must therefore reshuffle his midfield, with Darren Ambrose and Therry Racon in the reckoning to return to the side.

Grant Basey should keep his place at left-back with Chris Powell (ankle), Ben Thatcher (knee) and Cory Gibbs (foot) all missing.

Pardew played Chris Iwelumo as a lone frontman at St Mary's, although Luke Varney provided the cross for his winner after coming on as a late substitute.

Svetoslav Todorov is ruled out for the season with cruciate ligament damage and Matt Holland has a calf injury.

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson will select from an unchanged squad after the Robins managed not to incur any fresh injury or suspension problems during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Wolves.

But defensive duo Liam Fontaine and Jamie McAllister will be walking a disciplinary tightrope against the Addicks as they are on four yellow cards for the season and a booking away from a one-match ban.

David Noble made a substitute appearance at Molineux after spending most of last week suffering with a sickness bug.

The midfielder has experienced no ill-effects and could even be restored to the starting line up.
