City v Saints. Team news

The Swedish full-back suffered a hamstring injury early on during the 1-0 win over Cardiff and is to undergo a scan which is expected to rule him out for three weeks.

Manager George Burley was already without Claus Lundekvam (ankle), Chris Makin (hip), Andrew Davies (calf), Darren Powell (ankle) and Wayne Thomas (back) for Sunday's clash.

Powell and Thomas only failed late fitness checks, however, and could be OK to travel to Ashton Gate while Davies will hope to shake off his calf strain to make his debut following his loan move from Middlesbrough.

Christian Dailly, Saints' man of the match against Cardiff, has extended his loan deal from West Ham for a second month.

Bristol City defender Liam Fontaine will face a late fitness test.

Fontaine limped off with a back injury five minutes from time during his side's 3-1 win over Norwich and was replaced by Jamie McCombe.

Boss Gary Johnson is expected to start McCombe if Fontaine fails to recover in time.

The 24-year-old McCombe made 38 starts for City last seasons successful promotion campaign, but has failed to start a match since the Robins were promoted to the Championship.

Fellow defender Louis Carey should be available to play despite sustaining a cut above his eye against the Canaries in a clash with John Hartson.

Enoch Showumni (ankle) and Chris Weale (wrist) both need to gain some match fitness with the reserves before they can be considered for first-team duties.
