Coppell encouraged by tour progress

Bristol City boss Steve Coppell was determined to take the positives from his side's topsy-turvy tour of Sweden. Coppell saw his side demolish part-timers Vallens 11-1 on Saturday to bounce back from a chastening 4-0 loss to Helsingborgs. That defeat was preceded by a 1-1 draw with Helsingborgs' top-flight counterparts Gothenburg and Coppell admitted the tour itinerary was far from ideal. "It wasn't what I wanted originally with the hard games first," he told the Bristol Evening Post. "I would have preferred to have this game (against Vallens) first. Psychologically it is not good for us but it gave us a little bit of a wake-up call. "The chances are going to be harder to come by when the season starts but this preparation is good. "We took a beating in midweek but given the training we have given them I have been very pleased with the players so far."
