Ex-City forward Cole retires

ANDREW Cole has decided to retire from football at the age of 37.

The forward, who played two spells at Ashton Gate in the 1990's has decided to make a move into coaching after having his contract with Nottingham Forest terminated in October.

Andrew joined City from Arsenal in 1992 before a permanent switch to the club for around £500,000.

Cole who scored 25 goals in 45 games moved to Newcastle United a year later where he helped them to several top six finishes in the Premiership before moving to Manchester United where he won the FA Cup, Premiership title and the Champions League.

The Nottingham-born forward also made 19 appearances for England scoring 1 goal.

A spokesman for the club said,

"Andrew was a terrific servant at Bristol City Football Club and leaving after making such an impact after just one season showed the type of player he is we wish him the best of luck in the future."
