"Over the weekend Keith Dawe and myself sat down and drew up a shortlist of five names," he told the clubs official website.
"These names will not be disclosed and we will not be commenting on any speculation, either in the press or amongst supporters, regarding the identities of the candidates concerned.
"We hope to meet with all the people on the shortlist over the next few days and be in a position to know who our prime candidate is by the end of this week.
"We then hope to make an appointment as soon as we can, possibly making an announcement next week - although this timeline could depend on other factors."
