Fontaine hopes City can repeat success

BRISTOL City defender Liam Fontaine is hoping that his side can erase some painful memories tonight.

The defender was part of the team which was defeated 3-0 at Bramall Lane by Sheffield United earlier this month and he believes that victory tonight will go some way to easing the pain of that afternoon when he describes his side as being 'outclassed'.

James Beattie scored two goals for Sheffield United that day as City slipped to their lowest position of Gary Johnson's tenure. Thankfully since then things have improved as City are unbeaten in four after the international break and are tucked up nicely behind their conquerers that day in 6th place.

Fontaine likened the situation to last year when Bristol were hit for six by Ipswich Town before reversing the result in emphatic fashion just a few weeks later.

The defender his hoping City can do the same this time around and recalled the painful memories of losing to Ipswich last term,

"Losing to Ipswich like we did hurt us. No professional wants to be on the end of a result like that and the boys were all gutted by what happened."

Since having two weeks to think about their performance City have beaten Doncaster, Charlton and Norwich and only a draw against Barnsley has held up their progress,

It's the same with Sheffield United. We were well beaten at their place the other week and we want to put things right and show we're a better team than that.

"We definitely owe them one," he told the Bristol Evening Post.
