PRESTON North End manager Alan Irvine is confident that a return to form can improve his side's chances of making the top six.

The Scotsman's side began the season well, pushing Wolves and Birmingham in August and September, but the game a period of form in which they struggled and lost ground.

In recent weeks Irvine's men have returned to form collecting eight points from sixteen, which has pushed the back up to the top ten and given them confidence to push back towards the top six positons as they face Bristol City this weekend.

Irvine told teamtalk.com,

"We've had three of the last four games away from home and we've picked up five points from them and we're disappointed not to have picked up nine.

"We are making steady progress and hopefully getting back to where we were a couple of months ago."
