Jewell pleads for patience

PAUL Jewell has asked Derby supporters to be patient with his first team squad after a mixed week.

County kick off tomorrow having been beaten by League new comers Doncaster last week and head to City who have won two out of two so far in 2008/09. Things looked like going from bad to worse for the former Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan manager but a hat trick from Nathan Ellington spared their blushes in midweek against Lincoln and now the rams come to Aston Gate looking for a first league win under Jewell.

Ahead of the game Jewell told a press conference: "I know it is crass to ask for patience from supporters, bearing in mind the phenomenal loyalty that was shown to us last season."

"But it is important that the new players are given time to bed in and prove they are worth it. We'll be playing one of the best sides in the division tomorrow but I believe we have great quality and tremendous character in the dressing room and all the ingredients to have a successful season
."
