STILL unhappy with his side's performance on Saturday, Gary Johnson has told his players that consistency is they key to them achieving what they deserve this season.

City currently sit 11th and are without a win in three after their defeat to Reading at Ashton Gate on Saturday. Although he refuses to worry after such a poor performance, Gary Johnson has called for his players to 'respond' and promised that they would be in for a tough week in training.

Although a win against struggling Southampton could propel City back into the top six, the City boss believes that consistency from his side will be the key to them trying to emulate what they acheieved last season.

Having been beaten by Reading, Wolves and Birmingham, it is the other teams around them that seem to be causing the Robins problems and Johnson feels this must change if City are to be successful,

"You've got to be at your best to compete with the likes of Birmingham, Sheffield United, Wolves and, of course, Reading," he told BBC Radio Bristol,

"These teams have Premiership quality. If you're not on song they harm you."

Despite his warnings, Johnson did show belief that his side can bounce back from their 4-1 defeat continuing,

"We want to recover from this.

"It's a shame we haven't got a game on Tuesday but we have to wait until Saturday to get it out of our minds."
