Johnson continues his defense of striker.

NO doubt still delighted from the result his side secured at the weekend in Blackpool, Gary Johnson returned to Bristol today to put in its place what he described as 'unecessary negatives' about striker Nicky Maynard.

Speaking to the Bristol Evening Post, the City boss vigorously defended his record aquisition who failed to find the target despite several presentable chances coming his way.

Johnson said: "Nicky Maynard will be in double figures for goals come the end of the season."

"I don't doubt that for one moment."

Maynard is set to continue his Bristol 'experience' in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.
