Johnson disappointed with 'same old mistake'

BRISTOL City manager Gary Johnson admitted he was unhappy with the way his side missed out on a chance to get their form back-on-track last night.

Johnson felt he gave his side the best opportunity to prove themselves by making changes to his team after their 4-2 defeat against Crystal Palace.

Louis Carey, Jamie Mcallister and Nicky Maynard were all included as City went on the offensive but failed to break the deadlock until the 71st minute when Maynard lifted the ball over the goalkeeper. Just a minute later however, the home side were made to pay when Tommy Smith controlled a Jon Harley path and beat keeper Adriano Basso to leave his team heading back south with a point.

In his post-match interview, Johnson expressed disappoinement that his side had let more points slip at home. He told the BBC,

"It was the old story of being most vulnerable after scoring.

"I'm disappointed we didn't close down Tommy Smith when he scored. He used to be in my Academy at Watford so I probably taught him to shoot like that!

"We need to start turning our home draws into victories. But we are still well placed, and not far off the play-off positions."
