Johnson rules out loan deals

BRISTOL City manager Gary Johnson says he is well aware that some 'good' players will miss out on the visit of Reading this week but is hoping to keep hold of his entire squad to ensure that his team stays as competetive as possible.

City face a Reading side looking to make an immediate recovery from defeat to Burnley, while the home side need three points after drawing with Sheffield United and Barnsley 0-0 in consecutive games.

Yesterday Johnson backed his strikers to start firing soon assuring that those who did will 'keep their place' and this morning the City boss has denied that any of his players, paticularily those in forward areas will be leaving - even on short term loan deals.

Johnson strengthened his squad last week with the signing of Stern John and over the summer also signed Nicky Maynard and John Akide. With good competition in attacking areas the City boss told teamtalk.com that each of his forward players has an important role to play in his plans,

"A lot of people have been asking about loans, that's for sure. But good strikers are at a premium.

"People who want loans are nearly always ringing up looking for strikers but at the moment we need all ours."

The City boss carried on by adding that he hopes the competition will see his side through a busy period of games,

"There are so many games in November - six games - and December - six games. We want to create a competition."
