Johnson still undecided on keeper choice

WITH just three days to go before the big kick-off against Blackpool Gary Johnson told supporters yesterday that his team for the opening day of the season is all but decided.

Having had a successful pre season the manager said that there were only 'one or two places' still up for grabs and one of those may be on the goalkeeper position. The boss told the official website that he has a 'tricky call' to make,

"That's a big decision because Adriano's missed a lot of pre-season. The greatest thing is Wealie has proved his fitness now, having a fantastic game at Cheltenham."

He also praised the strength in depth he has available saying,

"Wealie is a great keeper and it's good to have two quality keepers on our books. It may be circumstances that dictate which goalkeeper starts the season."

Adriano Basso was the clubs player of the season last year but has suffered a series of niggling injuries which have kept him out. A decision on the clubs goalkeeper may not be made till just before the clubs first game but Johnson said: "Adriano doesn't want to let anyone down but he needs to be spot on to feel 100%. I'm sure whichever plays at Blackpool, the other one will face Peterborough United in the Carling Cup."
