The letter

What do we know of Jon Maguire? Very little, other than he is an ex-director of Legal and General who is best known for blowing the whistle on their alleged mis-naming of "endowment" mortgages that would not raise enough capital to cover the investment.
BBC Report on whistle blowing Jon Maguire

So do we want someone who does his business through the local press leading a consortium to take over our club? He is a fan of Bristol City, but we have had fans in control in the past. Should we be suspicious of his motives, or should we welcome him with open arms and watch him lead the Mighty Robins to the glory that we have been waiting for for thirty years (in my case)? I feel that the clubs reaction to his statement has been very dignified and that Steve Lansdown has shown remarkable restraint in his statements.
Official Club Statement

His proposal states that "Bristol City has the potential to become a massive commercial franchise" Is this what we want? Premiership football and an investment of £30million sounds very encouraging and if such investment is found, and the clubs debts can be cleared and investment made in the playing staff, then City will really be going places, or at least have the best possible chance of doing so.

The document strikes me as a little amateur for such an ambitious project. The conclusion is inconclusive. He really needs to speak to the current Chairman and come up with something more substantial to convince this particular Jar of Cider. He plans to do this in the next week or so.
