Jones backs Parry to come good

AFTER a traumatic week, Cardiff boss Dave Jones has backed winger Paul Parry to put in a stella performance against Bristol City on Saturday.

The Welshman chose to go into international retirement just days before Wales's game in Moscow with Russia after not playing a part in the national side's recent matches. The Cardiff player felt he was simply in the squad to 'make up the numbers' and became increasingly unphappy with not being included in John Toshack's plans so made the choice to make himself unavailable.

Parry's decision came under-fire from several sections of the media and supporters but Jones said: "Whether his timing is right or wrong, he has decided not to play for his national team. Paul has got to live with that and stand by that."

The Cardiff manager said he had no issue with picking Parry this weekend and expects him to be in-form despite a difficult week he told teamtalk.com that he wouldn't be suprised if Parry rebuilt his reputation with a great performance against neighbours Bristol City,

"He is my player and I'll support him in the decision he's made. It doesn't matter if he is right or wrong, he's employed by Cardiff so he has to get his head down and work hard for us.

"I hope the fans appreciate that and I'm hoping they will give him the support and applause that he gets playing for Cardiff."
