Jones pleased with 'good derby'

DAVE Jones revealed his delight at coming away from Ninian Park with a point - although he admits it could have been so much better.

Cardiff played out a 0-0 draw with Bristol City on Saturday but could have claimed three points if Jay Bothroyd was able to put one of his two decent chances away in the second half. City had chances themselves with Nicky Maynard hitting the crossbar but Jones felt that his side created enough to win the game. He said: "It was a really good derby and I was surprised that it took 89-minutes to boil over at the end. I thought the sort of football we played right throughout the game was excellent and defensively both teams came out on top.

We probably had the lion share of chances, certainly in the first half, unfortunately we didn't put a chance away but it wasn't for the want of trying."

Despite feeling that his side were unfortunate to win the game he said that a point was still greatly recieved,

"The 0-0 is no disgrace because we played good football and we probably edged it on chances but then Tom has made a great save and the lad had been allowed to break through.

"Overall it was a hard earned point and a good derby. I think the whole day, the atmosphere and the fans it made it great to be out there. I was great to watch even though it was 0-0.

Someone needed to score for it to really be open. They were trying to catch us on the counter attack and we were applying the pressure continually. But unfortunately we didn't get that break to stick it in the back of the net."
