Manager's reaction to City's win at Coventry

"We have to warm them down and get them in ice baths and get them swimming in cold water in the pool," said Johnson.

"It is very, very satisfying to be top. We knew that Coventry had a game plan to get the ball forward to Dele Adebola very, very quickly.

"We had to compete and at the same time be very, very strong. We also knew if we defended well we would be able to hit them on the break.

"It was a very, very good away performance from my point of view.

"The start to the season couldn't have gone any better. You can't get any better than being unbeaten.

"I am not surprised and the boys are not surprised. We have not come into the Championship saying we're going to beat everyone and we're going to get in the Premier League.

"All you can do is work like we have done and trust in ourselves. We believe we can compete at this level."

"There were loads of positives in the game," he said. "You can dominate games and lose.

"There was only one person taking 15 to 20 seconds for every goal kick and even until the second goal they were hanging in.

"The timing of their second goal helped. It was a very disappointing result. Apart from the last 20 minutes I can't really complain apart from the final ball.

"I think their goal was their only shot on target in the first half and I thought we started great.

"Soft goals are killing us at the moment but I can't fault the work of the players. I thought we dominated the game for long periods but take nothing away from them, I don't want to make excuses."
