"I know that when we are two up at half time our supporters expect us to go on and score four and I can assure them that was the aim.

"I want to be entertained and we now owe our fans 45 minutes of entertainment because we didn't play well in the second half.

"We put ourselves under pressure by conceding a silly penalty and there were a few nerves showing in the closing stages.

"I can only apologise to supporters for that."

"We didn't make them work hard enough to score their goals. You can accept conceding if it comes from a wonderful move, but their two goals came from chances inside the six-yard box.

"That 25 minute spell before half time cost us and we're going to have to stop having those periods in games if we're to prevent ourselves from being dragged into the mire."
