City fans hope to see Maynard celebrating soon.
NICKY Maynard is hoping to score his first competetive goal for Bristol City tonight as the club face Peterborough at Ashton Gate.

The 21-year-old made his debut at Bloomfield Road after signing from Crewe but failed to score on Saturday despite several presentable chances coming his say. Maynard has twice in the last two days been backed by his manager who suggested that unfair pressure had been put on the player because of his transfer fee but today the striker told BBC Radio Bristol that he has plenty of confidence in his ability,

"I proved that I can get into positions to make chances. On another day they'll go in, it was just one of those days. The main thing is that we got three points because it's a team game, so overall I'm pleased."

Ahead of tonight's game he told supporters: "I enjoyed it a lot. It was disappointing not to get on the scoresheet but we got the win and that was the main thing. If it happens tonight I'm sure I will be able to take my chance."
