Maynard hoping for recall to repay Johnson

NICKY Maynard hopes to win a recall to the Bristol City side tonight after scoring in the 4-2 defeat against Palace on Saturday.

The late consolation goal was Maynard's third of the season and the £2.25m record signing is hoping to get a chance to add to that tally against Watford with Gary Johnson suggesting he may make tactical and personnel changes,

"Being out of the team has been difficult," Maynard told the Bristol Evening Post,

"But it's taught me it's a team game and not just about individuals."

A run of just two goals in eleven games as well as the signings of John Akinde and Stern John have put pressure on Maynard to deliver goals but he revealed the support of his teammates and manager have helped him through a difficult time,

"All the other lads have stuck by me and encouraged me while I've not been starting and that's really helped. It's all about sticking together as a group and believing in one another.

"I've spoken to Gary (Johnson) about things and he's told me he believes in my ability. He's also told me to be patient and things will work out for me. It's nice when people show faith in you and, hopefully, I can repay him for that by scoring a goal against Watford."
