NEW signing Nicky Maynard appears to be settling into life at Bristol City very well and is hoping to have an immediate impact in his first competetive game as a Robins player.

The striker got off to a perfect start in his club debut last week scoring a hat trick against Antwerp but is straining at the leash to be involved in City's game at Blackpool tomorrow afternoon. Maynard marking his Football League debut for Crewe by scoring with his first touch against Millwall in 2006 and he is hoping that he can repeat the trick for his new club,

"I've made a bit of a habit of scoring in my first game and it would be nice to do it a third time," he told the Bristol Evening Post. "I came on at half time to make my debut for Crewe and scored with my very first touch, it was a great way to start."

Speaking about his debut for Bristol he said: "I'm ready to go. I couldn't have asked for a better start. I known people were talking about my fee and saying it was too much, so scoring a hat-trick in my first game was just what I needed."
