BRISTOL City striker Nicky Maynard has not had things all his own way since he joined the club in August but feels that his performance on Saturday showed a glimpse of what talent he posesses.

"I want to score goals in every game that I play in, but they haven't been coming as easily as I'd like, " said the striker who scored his second goal for the club on Saturday,

"I'm just going to stick at it and work hard."

Maynard made an immediate impact, scoring three in his first game against Royal Antewep in a pre-season friendly. He then scored in the club's first home game against Derby after recieving some unfriendly press for failing to take several oppertunities which fell his way against Blackpool.

Since then Maynard has recieved constant backing from his manager despite Johnson admitting he gave the former Crewe striker 'a rocket' during the defeat to Doncaster.

The club's record signing says he hopes to put all that behind him and believes the supporters at Aston Gate were to thank for his goal on Saturday. He said: "The fans have been really supportive and that's the reason for my celebration on Saturday.

"I've been getting letters and cards from fans saying 'keep your head up' and 'the goals will come'. Hopefully that will be the case.

"I don't really feel the pressure from anybody, except myself. It's just nice to know the fans believe in me and I want to repay them."
