McCarthy pleased with victory

TRIUMPHANT Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was full of praise for his side who defeated Bristol City 2-0 yesterday afternoon.

A free kick from Michael Kightly and a goal from Sylvain Ebanks-Blake were enough to get past the travelling Robins who lost their second game in three, but their first away from home this season.

In the second period, City created several chances of note but were unable to pierce the Wolves backline.

Understandably happy with his team's performance, Mick McCarthy said:

"I demand a high work-rate from them. The ones who don't put it in don't play.

"It has been a really pleasing start. The best I have ever had. If we had not scored that second goal, it would have been a nervy finish but it should have been two earlier than it was.

"We had enough chances and weren't clinical. We weren't calm enough to pick the right pass or shot."
